Who We Are:
Since its inception, Jefferson’s BMT Program has completed more than 1,000 bone marrow transplants, with increasingly impressive outcomes. Under the leadership of Neal Flomenberg, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Medical Oncology, our physician-scientists have taken the standard BMT process apart to achieve better outcomes for more patients by identifying key genetic markers, making a full match unnecessary and a half-matched donor-recipient pairing possible. So instead of one bulk transplant of cells, Flomenberg and his team carefully time and target the transplantation of two batches of cells in the aptly named Two-Step Transplant.
Why We Need Your Support:
Donations to our Bone Marrow Transplant unit will support continued research in our full match and Two-Step Transplants for blood cancers and disorders like leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and MDS.
